Unlocking the Secrets of the Universe: A New Model of Holographic Dark Energy

Researchers at Kant Baltic Federal University have developed a groundbreaking new model of holographic dark energy that addresses the instability issues of previous models. This innovative approach could revolutionize our understanding of the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Unlocking the Secrets of Dark Energy

In 1998, astrophysicists discovered a surprising thing: The expansion of the universe is speeding up. The concept of dark energy was born to explain this phenomenon. Dark energy is a mysterious force that fills the cosmos but so far remains on the must-not-be-seen list since it believes in publicly embarrassing luminous matter.

Concerned with dark energy, the standard cosmological model faces many challenges (e.g., the cosmological constant problem and fine-tuning problem). However, scientists at Kant Baltic Federal University in a series of articles have suggested an alternative holographic dark energy model, which is capable not only of solving but also put the whole problem of accelerated expansion of the universe in favor.

A New Paradigm — The Holographic Principle

The holographic dark energy model (holographic DE) is based on the holographic principle, which is a guideline in quantum gravity and string theory. This principle states that everything contained within a particular volume of space can be expressed in terms of information on the boundary, like in the case of holograms.

The model illustrates the universe as a hologram, where its properties are like those that can be described by parameters on its boundaries. This method may therefore offer a new perspective to explain the acceleration of cosmic expansion and it challenges the idea that dark energy is liquid like ‘quintessence’ filling all space.

The dark energy, these researchers say, should be viewed more as an ensemble of perturbations in the dark energy (concerning metrics) rather than as a liquid. This change in view has brought a breakthrough the researchers show that the holographic dark energy model is stable, which sets it apart from all previous models.

Conclusion

The model of holographic dark energy, created by scientists at the Kant Baltic Federal University, is a perspective alternative to cosmological models conforming to standard cosmology. The model also addresses a theoretical problem related to unstable dark energy that previous attempts to explain an accelerated expansion of the universe have faced by making two stringent assumptions: including the so-called holographic principle and treating dark energy as perturbations rather than as “a liquid.” This innovative method offers not only a fresh view of the nature of our Universe but holds also the promise to learn new properties by comparing their models with the latest observational data shortly.
