Wnt Signalling Pathway in Kidney Morphogenesis

The Wnt pathway represented one of the pathways known to be important in activation of the mammalian kidney developmental program…. We have recently used this system to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which Wnt signaling controls Npr regenerationand to show that it promotes self-renewal of NPCs while simultaneously promoting differentiation and cluster formation . Dose dependent responses to Wnt transcriptional complexes and a function for cadherin adhesion complexes in the directed cell aggregation that normally occurs during kidney formation are two of the important conclusions. Not only does this help provide more clarity in kidney development, but it also is a key component to regenerative medicine approaches.
