Researchers from the Medical University of Graz have developed an exciting new ex vivo skin model that is breaking boundaries in skin research. This innovative model allows scientists to study skin responses outside the human body, providing valuable insights into skin biology, wound healing, and inflammatory skin conditions. Unlike traditional skin models, this new approach operates at room temperature without the need for a CO2 incubator, making it more accessible and flexible for various applications. The model also enables the study of extracellular vesicles (EVs), which play a crucial role in skin cell communication. With its ability to mimic the natural skin environment more closely, this groundbreaking skin model promises to accelerate advancements in dermatology and skin care research.
