According to the communis’>Ricinus communis plant, has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. In recent years, researchers have discovered a wide range of therapeutic properties associated with castor oil, including antifungal, antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and wound-healing effects.
The Experimental Approach
In this groundbreaking study, researchers set out to investigate the efficacy of castor oil in preventing the development of esophageal strictures in an experimental CEB model using rats. The study involved five groups of Wistar-Albino rats, each with a unique intervention:
1. Sham group: Received saline instead of the corrosive solution.
2. Control group: Underwent CEB modeling without any treatment.
3. Early Stage Topical Application group: Received a single topical application of castor oil immediately after CEB modeling.
4. Late Stage Topical Application group: Received a single topical application of castor oil on the 21st day after CEB modeling.
5. Oral Application group: Received daily oral administration of castor oil for 21 days after CEB modeling.
